Apologies if this has been covered before, couldn't find it in a quick search.  When you drag 32 bit files to the cd burning view, what settings (dither, noise shaping etc.) does AA use to do the conversion to 16bit?  Usually I convert to 16 bit from edit view but I'm curious about the other method.
TIA,
John

The short and sweet answer is that I don't know - and it's not stated anywhere. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, because I always do what you usually do, and do the conversion myself first.

I'll make enquiries, though, just to satisfy curiosity!

Okay, just over 2 months later (don't ask...) I have finally got an answer. But hey, it's come via an intermediary from somebody who is known in some circles as 'the big guy' (although apparently he isn't that big at all - go figure  rolleyes )... Anyway:

Quote
The automatic should be doing Triangular non-shaped dither (this adds the fewest bits of noise to the signal, but anything less would introduce artifacts in the bit reduction).  But since it is non-shaped, the hiss level will sound louder than most of the noise-shaped curves.  All other noise shaping curves ‘color’ the background noise in some way, and depending on the source music, some curves will sound better than others.

This is the present situation, at any rate.

Ha  smiley  I burned one this way the other day without thinking and thought of it again after the fact.  So now we have an answer.  Thanks Steve.
