Ok, this is probably simple, but I'm new(er) to recording and can't figure it out.

I have a 70 minute lecture that I've cleaned up.  I can easily Split the tracks up and have each of them be their own Audio file in order to separate the full 70 minute track into a few smaller tracks....

BUT...

there must be an easier or perhaps better way to do this.

Anyone?

I did try to 'insert track marks' in the multitrack view, but then what?  I then tried to mix the audio down to see if it split it into tracks, but it didn't.

What's the trick?

Once you have your mixdown made you can insert the cue marks....but make sure they are set to "track" in the markers window.  If you already added track markers in multi-track mode then the markers should carry over to the mixdown.  When you switch to the CD writing view you will see your file with a plus symbol next to it in the file organizer.  If you click it your track marks will appear underneath the file name.  You can drag the markers over to the CD writing window and Audition will ask you to specify the "range" of the mark.  This is basically where the track will end.

You can specify the range in edit view by highlighting a range of audio and then adding the marker.  Make sure the marker type is set to "track".

Ok, for some reason this isn't working for me.  So please bear with my simplistic explanation.

I have a test track session set up.

It's about 6 minutes long.  In the Multitrack screen, I've put in a few randomly placed track marks by using the "Insert CD Track Marker" selection tool.  There are lines down the screen designating where the tracks start and end...

now what do i do?

This is actually a little bit easier task than I first attempted to explain.

Not sure what you mean by the "Insert CD Track Marker".  I just use F8 to insert the cues and use the marker window to make sure they are set to "track".

Once you have your markers set you have to mixdown the session (File > Export > Audio Mixdown). The file should still contain the markers set in the multi-track view. Once you are finished with editing the file and is saved, switch over to CD view.

In the left hand window you will see the file named there (as long as it is open).  Simply drag the filename over to the cd track list (the tab says "main").  A dialog should pop up asking how to handle the track markers.  The default settings should be fine.  Just make sure that the "Add Multiple CD Tracks using Track Markers" is selected.

After hitting ok you will see your track marker names show up in the list.  Then you just write the CD and it should be good to go.
