Worth Upgrading?

I am currently running AA 2.0 with an E-MU 1212M soundcard and I am wondering if I should bother to upgrade to 3.0?  I use this program for the archiving of vinyl and shellac recordings only ( stereo & mono). I also use several plugins with AA such as Amplitube, CSR etc; and I will be adding ClickFix soon but I don't do any live or multi-track recordings. I was just wondering if I would benefit from this upgrade given my limited use of it?

AA3.0 is generally more efficient. So if you have a multi-core machine you will get processing time improvements, especially if you do anything using FFTs. And there's one new process that you might benefit from as well - automatic phase correction.

I personally never liked AA2 for transfer and restoration work and tended to stick with 1.5. By comparison I now do everything in 3.0 and rarely look back. The new tools for FSE work are worth the upgrade alone...

Thanks for the info.  Although I don't use a dual core cpu I do employ FFTs for noise reduction and such.  I'll check out the "automatic phase correction" aspect.  Thanks again.

  I did the same thing, I have 2.0, but stuck with 1.5 for most of my audio restoration work.  However, I will get 3.0 for the new mastering tools.

Do you recommend the full disc or the upgrade download?  Will the upgrade give me any problems?

You get a full manual and a pretty box with the shipped version. Loopology hasn't changed as far as I can tell, so just downloading the program installer alone is relatively small.  So it really comes down to what you prefer.

Like all other versions of Audition, they get along with each other flawlessly.

2.0 has proven to be my least favorite, and thus least-used, version of Audition.  Like Andrew, however, I'm finding that 3.0 gets the job done better and is more enjoyable to use.

I got the most familiar with 1.5 when I used a friends setup.  Then when he wanted it back he upgraded to 2.0 and had LOTS of issues.  Now I just went and got 3.0 about 2 weeks ago.  I am very happy with it so far.
