Graphics Cards - Matrox G450 -> ATI Radeon 9600 - clicks gone

I could have stuck this on the end of any number of older 2.0 threads relating to performance, clicking, etc - but I couldn't decide where it would fit best, so I started a new thread.

I've complained a few times about the performance of AA2 on my DAW - getting clicks during playback due to graphics load rather than effects load, and having to raise my sound card buffers much higher than with AA1.5 and other apps.

In time, my DAW (P4 2.4) is going to be replaced with a much badder PC and my current DAW will become my day-to-day box.  I'm a fan of MS Flight Sim, I hadn't been able to fly FS2004 on my old dual PIII 800 - just not enough horsepower ... getting impatient to play I replaced the Matrox G450 in my DAW with an ATI Radeon 9600 so I could load up flight sim.

After flying around a bit I thought I'd see what impact the ATI card would have on my Audio work.  ATI has improved their dual screen implementation a lot since I last tried this card in my DAW.  Also, clicks are gone in AA2 playback until I get my ASIO buffer down to 128 samples.  A big freq analysis window, a big phase analysis window, and smooth scrolling in the main display (dual screens) and all runs fine.

If you've been getting clicks on playback with AA2, it might be time to look in to a higher-powered graphics card.  I'm planning to get a Matrox P650 PCIe for the next DAW - any first hand experience with that card and AA?
