Mixdown to an unsaved track in Edit View

Yes, but this is a poor workaround compared to the old way.

In 1.5, I could hit one hotkey and straight away I'm looking at a mixdown in EV - without it being inserted into MV, which then has to be deleted.

They've turned a one step process for me into a three step process.

Could you elaborate a bit on what you are doing? Using a hotkey to create a mixdown in Edit View without it being inserted in the Multitrack view?

Do you mean you can mix all tracks to a stereo mixdown in edit view and NOT have to "mix all selected tracks to empty track __"? So no track in multitrack view contains the track called "mixdown"?

That would be neat. Can you tell me how you do it?

....And since you have to do the mixdown anyway, all that's really been added is a couple of mouse-clicks to open it in EV....

In the export audio mixdown dialogue, there's a check box to "insert mixdown into: edit view/mt audio track/cd layout".
So, why whould there even be an extra step to reopen the file in EV?

Absolutely! I mix down about 30-40 commercials a day, it's really going to waste my time. They need to fix it now!

Why do you need to master in EV? What can't you do on the master track, that you can do in EV? Not trying to be smart here, just asking.

I think you'll find that the original complaint related to opening an unsaved mixdown in EV - if you use the checkbox, you get a saved one. Apparently the original complainant finds some difficulty with this particular method of working... and I am not commenting any more on that.
