But upgrade price to the UK is GBP 81.08 including VAT and even more, GBP 83.49, for the downloadable version huh

And considering the current strength of the £, this is, to say the least, something of a rip-off. Because that is more like $150 plus...

Same goes for prices in Euro; you pay € 99 for an upgrade, excluding VAT. That's $ 126.--.

I visited today since I saw something interesting about a competitive program. So I decided to check out what was going on qith Audition and I see there's a 3.0 version coming. The upgrade price is nice indeed. But again, it feels bad when customers from Europe can't pay something close to the price in dollars. Especially with the Euro at record strength compared to the dollar at the moment. It always stings a bit when ordering then I think Tongue Even if the price is ok there's still the thought in my head that knows that it could've been lower if I lived somewhere else Wink

I wish it was funny too, but my work depends on knowing about this, so I have time to make preparations if I need to.

So it's an upgrade with new functionality added and not a major overhaul, so I expect the answer to my questions is going to be yes.

You may think that if you wish - I couldn't possibly comment...

(for those not in the UK, that's a quote from a TV series...)

Since I am back in the SAP-IT-business for a couple of months (couldn't resist...) I do sound editing just for fun (or for very important old customers). But unlike other programs I have to work with, like MS Office, Adobe Reader etc., it is still Adobe Audition which makes me ask for the newest version. Yesterday I ordered my German AA 3.0 which will be shipped end of October. I didn't check the benefits, I did no research concerning things like new GUI or new features - I just had to have it ordered. I just have to have it! Strange, huh...? YES!

So long and good success with your sound editing!

Alas that's just the way it goes, funny or not. Assume nothing until you know, and you won't know unless or until Adobe decides to tell you.

Upgrade price of $99 applies to all previous versions of Audition.  That's a fairly aggressive marketing move - and one which I predict will upset some people who have paid for the intermediate versions.  Well, those are the breaks.

New feature set is pretty huge - do look at the detailed list.

So are you telling me that upgrade to 3.0 is $99.00 and the $139.00 I paid for 2.0 is a waste of my money?
Not right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to:
1. Ask for refund on my AA 2.0 I just bought and can't use at 9632.
2. Call the Better Business Bureau (USA) / File an action / complaint against Adobe

AA3.0 upgrade applies to all versions of Adobe Audition software? Why was there not a disclaimer this would be the case when I bought AA 2.0 Summer 2007?

Had I known, I would have waited.

Precisely. That's why Adobe don't give much advance warning of new versions. They like to have your money now evil

Your money goes to fund additional research and development. If you don't want to support that, then I suggest you stop buying the product. As for me, I'm planning on continuing buying upgrades as they become available, as I feel the price is fair and the upgraded capabilities are well worth it.

So, you're saying that a crummy marketing policy is justified because it funds R&D, is that right?  Hmm...  I wonder why the people who just shelled out $139 for a product that's inferior to the imminent $99 version find that a less than attractive idea...

The $139 version was all that was available at that time. I believe it was only $129 though. Now it's a different time. Prices on software are falling in many cases.... so the new upgrade price does indeed make sense. It's real simple, if you don't want the upgrade, then don't buy it. I for one think it's worth it just because of the midi support, if you don't feel that way, then stick with using 1.5 or 2.0....or any other program out there...it's your choice. But don't bad mouth Adobe because they're selling something at a price most people can afford....so maybe a few people will benefit from holding off of 2.0,  so what, they didn't have use of that program all that time either.... so it still boils down to, you get what you pay for.

The licence implies a guarantee of the program for 90 days or you get a refund.  Anyone who has a major problem with the program as is, and has bought in the last 90 days, should consider following that up.  Anyone who is happy should get as much value from their purchase by using it intensively!

I've had just the same problem with Ulead software - buy today, read about the next release tomorrow - it's the way the business operates, mostly.

At least this time they have provided a couple of months advance warning of the release, for the first (?) time.

...and the previous upgrade has been around for >18 months, so one might naturally be expecting something new to come along in the not-too-distant future.

You are making two separate statements
1. Your money goes to fund additional research and development.
2. If you don't want to support that, then I suggest you stop buying the product.  [/quote]

Reply To #1 - True / Deceptive advertising should not be the means where Adobe extracts this money from customers.

Reply to #2 - We buy a product because it is offered to us to buy. We support fair and just marketing to sell this product. I suggest you stop being a salesman for Adobe and look at what they're doing without rose-colored glasses. How are you connected to Adobe? Reveal all now. Truth in advertising.
