Audition 2.0... Behringer BCF... ADS RedRover...

I'm using Audition 2.0 with a Behringer BCF 2000. Can I use the ADSTech RedRover in conjunction with the BCD2000? I wasn't sure if Audition 2.0 supported the use of 2 control surfaces.

Any help would be appreciated!!

I don't have two controllers to test it with, but because you can only select one at a time in the ext controller dialog, I'd guess that you can't. That would make a certain amount of sense, as well...

I wasn't sure because I was under the assumption that RedRover was a stand-alone device. It's only made for The Cool Edit/Audition family as far as I know. So my guess was coming from the fact that the RedRover unit is designed for it alone. But I see your point here. Thanks!!!

Okay, slightly longer explanation...

AFAIK, you can get a plugin for Sonar 4 (and probably later versions) that will let you use the Red Rover with that as well. It may have been designed for CEP/AA, but fundamentally it's still a MIDI-based USB controller. And on that basis, it may yet work at the same time as another one, but with one proviso. The only way we'll ever know if this is really true, though, is if somebody tries them both together. The proviso is that for this to happen, both controllers would have to obey the same protocol - it's the protocol that has to be selected, rather than the device. My understanding is that the Behringer uses the Mackie protocol, and that isn't directly compatible with the Red Rover one, and that's why I don't think it will work - it's not just because there are two controllers present.

Sorry for this off topic query here, but I see you own AA2 and BCF 2000 and I am curious to find out how stable this combination is and how well the BCF integrates with AA2. Are there any shortcomings ? I'm looking for a control surface that will allow me to ride the levels during mixdown - just some basic stuff, and the BCF seems like a really good buy. Thanks in advance for your input.

I've been using a BCF2000 for about two years now and am very pleased with it. AA2 works slightly better with it than AA1.5. With AA2 you just need to have reasonably up to date BCF firmware and operate in MCSo mode. This provides smooth fader, pan and transport controls which are all you really need. AA2 doesn't let you reprogram the two rows of buttons (although it should), but any such functions can be easily mapped to your computer keyboard.

BTW, to get the pan controls to work, you must first press the BCF's "Edit" key.

The only issue I have is... well it works 95% flawless with my desktop... but the laptop for some reason, well it just pisses it off. Shuts AA2 down with an invalid function call. Now... I know it's something that can be fixed of course... but I have no clue which part of the whole deal is different from my desktop.
