I would like to record, alter a person's voice to make it unrecognizeable, and monitor it in real time. Is this possible? Or must it be modified after it is recorded?
Also, can Cool Edit Pro 2 play back or record over the modem? Is there any freeware that can do this?
Thanks

Please read the answer in 'real time compression?', which applies equally to your first scenario. As for the modem, if it shows up in the audio sources lists, it might work, but somehow, I doubt that it will. If there is any S/W that can do what you want, I would have thought that a Google search might reveal it.

If you happen to have a Creative soundcard with EAX effects, that's one of the things you can do ('voice changing'). Whether you can use that to disguise your voice during a phone call (I'm guessing!) I'm not so sure.

Avnex Ltd's website, www.Audio4fun.com , has exactly what you're looking for. Exactly.

Well spotted, William - but I'll never answer the phone again.
