mfcinst71.exe DLL for Algorithmix plug-ins needed

Trying to check out new demos from Algorithmix. I use CEP 2. Demo access must be requested, then receive email about products. I'm interested in 2 noise reduction plugs.

I have full setup instructions from Algorithmix at end here, but basically it says download .exe files for each plug-in, run set-up, and then....

But when I try to run the .exe files for any of the given plug-ins, I get a message saying "This installation requires later versions of Microsoft runtime DLLs on your system. Please download and execute mfcinst71.exe and restart the installation"

So I'm stopped dead from moving forward.

I can't find the mfcinst71.exe dll anywhere on-line, not even on the Microsoft site. I came cross only one unique mention of it on the whole web, this on some East European language message board re: audio software and recording--CEP is mentioned on the listerve somewhere. I don't find that DLL in existing form on my harddrive.

Anyone know anything about this DLL and where can I find it? There are some communication issues with Algorithimx (German company & lack of information on their site) and I'd like to get using the Demos before too much time passes. As you can see below, downloading and setting up the Plug-ins seems, comparatively, needlessly complicated.

Instructions, their words (is there any way to bypass the obstacles I'm facing to setup more easily than instructed here?)
1. go to site
2. download .exe files from the main directory
3. run .exe files for each plug-in to install on your computer
4. Then return to the ftp site, go into "vst" folder and copy .dll files directly to your "vst" folder >in your host >application
5. Start up your host application and enter your email adress when prompted
6. plug-ins should appear in your directX and VST plug-in menu

What version of Windows are you running on your PC?  Microsoft have upgraded their installation software many times over the years as the operating system is changed. So you probably need to go to Windows updtae to find a newer version of the Microsoft installer.

The only thing that I know about anything called mfcinst was that it was a part of a Y2K hotfix - which would make it 7 years old!

Well, mfcinst71.exe is an executable, not a DLL for starters.  Not that I'm poking fun at you at all, more at the idiots who phrased things in such a confusing way.  I suspect what they are talking about is an installer for something called MFC 7.1 (MFC = Microsoft Foundation Classes).  Unfortunately, even this doesn't seem to exist as something separate (and Microsoft are a complete pack of idiots for not making this easier for end users coping with products from software developers who have dropped the ball).  It seems what you really need to do is search for mfc71.dll download.

Why you have to download Microsoft runtimes from sites other than Microsoft I'll never understand.  (Try that exact same search string in the search bar at Microsoft's home page and see how far you get.)  Surely for anyone making products with so many security holes the last thing they need is their runtime DLLs being supplied by sites of unknown provenance.  Who knows what may be patched in?

It might be worth checking on the Microsoft developer's website for these runtimes as software developers are supposed to include them with their installation software if the program needs them. I can understand Algorithmix leaving them out of downloadable software though as they are fairly large files.

You did see my search results from Microsoft's own web site, didn't you?  They don't appear to have them, hence my rants.  Software developers don't get them from Microsoft's web site, they get them bundled in the development tools from Microsoft.  Any half-way clueful software developer should be making it a lot easier for their users, even more so if they expect people to try out their demo versions.  How many potential sales do they lose by not making this easier?
