Review of vocal recording
During a number of mastercourses for piano, violin, and violoncello, I have collected some experience about recording these instruments solo and in combination in a well known environment. For the next courses in summer, I am faced with a new challenge since there will also be teaching of singers. I have little experience collected in this respect and would like to prepare carefully. I could only do some experiments with 2 ladies who wanted to have a demo. It’s for this reason, I present samples with slightly different mixdowns that were recorded at the same place with the same piano, and equipment. I would be glad to get some comments and hints based on these takes, although I assume the mastercourse will rather include arias and classical songs.
My intention for these rather lighthearted Hollander songs was to have the voice rather close and focussed slightly off center, while the piano should sound spacious but well defined in the background. I would not like to disclose my arrangement in advance. Thanks for the advice of the experts !

Re: Review of vocal recording
No expert here... but I'd like to chime in that if you indeed are wanting to check on mixes, I highly enjoyed number 3. In the first one I felt the piano was too distant. In the second, too far left. She's a very expressive vocalist, conveys a great deal in her style.
