Thank you for this answer. I was NOT questioning your intellect, but merely wondering which DAW you were using since, according to Audioease own website, it is not compatible with AA.
From my own experience I know that not all VSTs play happily with AA and so wondered if Speakerphone was one of those; clearly it is not.

Oh it does not play nice at all, when you experience the 7th crash you just decide to use it regularly, unless you discover some of the following kinks:
A)
This is the "unofficial" compatibility match
AUDITION 3 = ALTIVERB 6
AUDITION 2 = SPEAKERPHONE
B) If you are testing the effects and you press "play" NEVER and I repeat NEVER press "OK" while it is still playing
the preview. It does not like changes to the file being commited while the preview is still playing, when interrupted it truly throws a tantrum. Just let it finish the preview or just press stop before commiting changes.
Following those guidelines provided (in my case) an estimated 85% stability.
I provide this just in case anyone felt like giving these programs a try since they are time savers.
But using another DAW may give mixed or better results, I just have a preference for AA.
Cheers,
