I've just started another project of about 20 songs and I thought I would share the building of it here.

This is a sample of one of the tracks - drums and bass down so far - yes real drums - anyone remember them? smiley

Hope to get the guitars to some of the tracks down this week.

Hey!! I was wondering how you programmed your drum fills!!! REAL DRUMS!!!! Way to go.

First - I'm biased by using the Telefunken V76 tube mic pre. Bass has lots of high energy. Try using the Bob Clearmountain method - rolling off parametric EQ north of 800 / 1000hz: this lets the bass into the song w/o competing with energy from guitars vocals. Great playing. Snare hits can be darker / deeper. Overall feel of music is super clean / metalish / bright digital.

Thanks for listening.

I was pretty impressed with the drums etc and wasn't going to do too much more until a few other things started getting into the mix but I will certainly try your bass treatment suggestion.

Don't worry once the guitars come in it will probably be a lot less 'clean' smiley

Thanks

PS Real drums - ya can't beat 'em LOL

You're right. Barebones tracks will have guitars / vocals. Try adding a live conga / jimbe -  these go far in creating a great Santana / rock feel.

And then don't forget the reverb!!!!! grin
