   Hi! Guys,

Recently I'm having a hard time producing an orchestral track. I can't produce a real like orchestral sound. cry

I always end up with a midi-like sound. My question is: Is there any plug-ins that can produce a real-like orchestra sound? (I'm referring to String section, brass section,

and percussion section). A plug-in that can read MIDI and translate it into a real-like orchestra sound. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

   Thanks,

The only convincing results I've heard recently were done with skillful use of the Vienna Symphonic library.   Pricey but pro quality.

I always end up with a midi-like sound.

Midi doesn't have a 'sound'.  If you have a problem it's more likely the way you are using it.

My question is: Is there any plug-ins that can produce a real-like orchestra sound?

There's a few of them around, the best ones are none too cheap - but then, neither is an orchestra!

I'm Aware that MIDI doesn't have sound. What I'm saying is my results are far from the real orchestra sound. Anyway thank you very much for the advice I really appreciate

it.

What I'm saying is my results are far from the real orchestra sound.

Basically, there are two problems here.

The first is the obvious one of getting the right 'sound' itself - and there are plenty of options, as you will find by using a search engine.  The second is the way that sound is used. Too many midi users tend to play the instrument concerned incorrectly.  There's little point in having a good (say) string sound, if you are going to play like you would a saxophone. Even half-way convincing midi means you have to have some understanding of how the instrument/s you are emulating would be played.

As for orchestral sounds, I suggest you check out Synful  This is a very clever bit of software that does not rely on samples, but can still produce some fairly realistic orchestral instruments. It can even introduce some expression.

I know I'm a bit late replying here, but I use the products from East West, specifically their "Symphonic Orchestra" soft synths.  They've developed their own technology that's amazing (for legato, melismas, etc).

Here's a link to some of the products:

I think it's fair to add that all of the good options are not going to be cheap Smiley .

I use Logic straight from Apple, but before that I used GarageBand with the Jam Packs that the company offered...and I must say, for only $100 apiece, these are some EXCELLENT samples. Definitely look into it.

If you think they're good, your going to be astonished at some of the other products mentioned in this thread.

However, I'm having a bit of a problem here since all the above intimates you are running a Mac - if that's the case, what are you doing here?

Well it is an Audition forum and since that only runs in a Windows environment then, yes, I suppose it is.

It's a forum dedicated to software that does not run on a Mac!  Since you can't be running said software and therefore not in a position to pass any useable comment on its use, I'm forced to wonder why you are here at all?
