"Old Tape Recording" Update

First I want to thank you folks for all the help.   The results were acceptable though the dropouts remain. All in all I'm happy with it.  I used Waves Restoration Bundle to remove a little more noise and something I read in the manual confused me. It states that there might be some latency involved that some programs do not automatically correct.  Does AA3.0 correct this on it's own or do I have to compensate?  And if I do have to correct it; how?  Again, Thanks!

I presume that they're referring to VST insertion delay - in which case it's compensated for automatically.

Anyone ever come with an automated approach (plugin maybe??) to repairing dropouts?

There is no automatic way that this can be done because each instant is different. However Audition does give you all the tools necessary to do it manually. You might however find iZotope's RX restoration tools does a slightly better job with less manual intervention.

I believe I have IZotope but never tried it.  I agree with "ryclark", there is no way to automaticly do it especially with the noise just about matching the signal. I did get it to the point where, if you listen closely, you can make out what is said (some of it pretty salty, but he was in the Merchant Marines.)
