Just wanted to let people know that CoolEdit 2000 can run on Windows Vista.
There's a minor conflict with Windows Media Player; the Media Player doesn't
want to let CoolEdit "own" .WAV files.  However, CoolEdit can still open .WAV
files using the "Send To" contextual menu.

To install CoolEdit 2000, I used "run as administrator" and "run in Windows 98 compatibility mode"
for the installer program and the register program.  I also used those settings on the CoolEdit program
after it was installed.

It's nice to know that one of the great oldies but goodies still works on Vista.

This doesn't work for me . . . I installed this way and when I run the program I get the error "This program is not properly configured to run on this system"  - those words may not be exact but almost.  Any new information on this???

I have never tried to run CE2K using Vista but in its day CE2K, with its plugins, was a great programme for those on a limited budget and wanting to do basic editing for speech based radio production.  smiley

Vista on the other hand ...  angry

Installed as Administrator and then 'Run As Administrator' resolved this for me.
