WWW

I had a fit of impulse buying on eBay the other day and acquired a JL Cooper CS10^2 and a FaderMaster. So now I'm on a quest to find the best way to use them with Audition (and Vegas Pro).  I've spent a few days absorbing what I could find on line about Mackie Control Emulation.  Have tried solutions from the following:
http://home.earthlink.net/~flipotto/ (interesting, easy to setup, but kludgy and not fully functional)
http://www.wisemix.com (nearly useless, at least for me)
http://www.arthunkins.com/articles.htm (this is probably the route I'm going for the moment scripting via midiox)
and more....

I've been pretty successful assigning buttons and faders.  Haven't really gotten into the vpots yet.  Can't get the jog/shuttle wheel to work at all.

So I'm looking for any advice on configuring external control.  From those of you who have a Mackie Control..what features work/don't work?  Does the shuttle knob work?  Anyone customizing MC emulation for another control surface?  Does anyone have a Contour Design Shuttle Pro?  Any idea how it talks to Audition?

Lastly, not having had any external controller before I'm not quite sure how to make most efficient use of it.  If you had a bunch of assignable buttons and/or faders, how would you use them?
Thanks,
JTC

I really like the MCU. For me it much more effecient than point and click. I know that some of the issues I raised in my reply are addressable by remapping within AA.

Thanks Doug.  Not sure how I missed that thread.  I'm doing pretty good with faders & buttons with my CS10.  It has six pots that are going to need some additional scripting to get them to function with the channel selects.  Still can't get my jog/shuttle wheel to work but I'm beginning to suspect that the hardware is malfunctioning.  Waiting for an email response from JL Cooper to confirm that.  Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to adapt my work flow.  I'm pretty used to mouse clicks and a few keyboard shortcuts.
