AA3 Previous session, Can't open files, program locks up

Greetings.  All of a sudden, every time I open AA3, I get a notice that a previous session exists, even though that is not the case.  Regardless of which option I choose (continue, delete or later), I get to the normal workspace.  But if I try to open a file by clicking on "File > Open...", nothing happens.  I do not get a window from which to choose a file.  At that point, the program locks up, and no matter what I click on, I just get a "ding" sound.  I have to use Task Manager to close the program.  I have tried reinstalling the program, to no avail.  Any auggestions?  I'm running Vista Home Premium.

Follow-up  12/8.  I talked with Adobe tech support.  They identified it as some sort of video redraw problem.  They couldn't resolve it on the phone and promised to call back within 48 hours.  That was 96 hours ago.  In the meantime, I found I was using the native Windows Vista drivers for my evga gforce 7800 GT video card. I installed the latest nvidia drivers and everything is now OK.

Another reason to worship at the shrine to Vista.
