How can I hear my VSTi when I play on the virtual keyboard?
1. Insert a MIDI track into your session by selecting
Insert > MIDI Track, or by pressing the hotkeys Alt+m.
2. Enable Live Monitoring by selecting the red L button.
3. In the Session Properties dialog select
Audition Mix for Monitoring.
4. Select the Sequencer button in the MIDI track controls, or double click the blue track background to bring up the sequencer.
5. From the VSTi selection box within the sequencer select your instrument.
If you do not see a VSTi that you know is installed on your system then click the puzzle shaped button in the upper right-hand corner of the sequencer. This brings up the VSTi Plug-In manager, with which you can scan for plug-ins and enable/disable them.
6. You should now be able to hear your midi input when playing on the vertical keys in the piano roll editor, or on the
Virtual Keyboard (the Piano Keys button in the upper right-hand corner will toggle the display of the Virtual Keyboard). If you have multiple tracks within the sequencer the Virtual Keyboard will trigger the VSTi within the currently selected track.
