Trouble with pitch shifting

I downloaded a free sample of a bell playing a low C and wanted to create one playing E, so I used pitch shifting in AA 2. However what came out, while playing an E suddenly had two strikes instead of one! Am I doing something wrong or is this some arcane secret of pitch shifting that I don't understand?

This is a bit strange. I use to use the pitch shifter a lot and this had never happened to me. I have not used AA 2.0. I have AA 1.5. How did you change the pitch...from the "Loop Properties" window? If so, then the only explanation that I can come up with is that the looping and/or beat settings were changed as well, as these setting are contained in the Loop Properties window as well (in AA 1.5 at least). So compare those settings pre and post pitch shifting.

I took the C you attached and I used the Pitch Bender in AA1.5 to produce an E.  It is attached. I didn't get a doubling effect like you did. I'm scratching my head here trying to figure this out. The only thing I can come up with now is this:

You used the pitch bender, which inevitably affects the the tempo/length of the wave. You then transported the wave into multitrack view, with multitrack file settings that stretched the wave again to make it fit with either the other tracks or the session tempo. This somehow caused the doubling effect.  One way around this problem is to use the "Stretch" option instead.  That way you can change the pitch while preserving the tempo. I tried that as well, it is also attached. If you didn't involve multitrack settings in this process then a I am at a complete loss. I don't know why you got that doubling effect. Maybe it's 2.0 specific. Sorry if I could not be of more help.

The bells are from Australia - if you check the OT posts you'll find the link. They are free to download and there are lots of them. They have three bells playing E, but I wanted the tone of the low C bell. I shall try other ways of doing this, but thanks for posting the samples - it means I can get on with the song!

?  'Cos I just tried it again and got the same double strike. However, when I used pitch stretch it works fine! Peculiar!
