I talked yesteday about posting some new stuff....here it is/along with my commentary! haha.

http://loudmouthimaging.com/audiomasters.mp3

It's two stations i did within the last week, one is a Pop station (dont like the imaging format....but remember it's what the client wants!) and the other is a Top 40 station. Please leave your comments, good bad or ugly.

Well Casey, what's to criticize? It all sounds great. The voices at the front are terriffic, this is more to my personal taste compared to some rougher voicing that's going around, it's like you're putting the "nice" back, which I like. But (and only for perfection's sake) I can also hear what might be criticized by others, and it's in the technical area rather than content. One is tightness, you can edit the elements a bit tighter even for these formats. The other is levels, or, well is it all compressed so that it all kicks at the same level? Sounds like it's not, and you have a few bits that are quieter than others .. or are you leaving that to station compressors to handle? I learned a lot about these aspects of imaging from Emmett and Marty. No matter what the format is, the imaging still needs to pack a punch, it's station identification so it needs to sound important and make you pay attention.

gosh I feel like a moron....I forgot to mention that in the "Pop" sweepers there are small snippets that have slight breaks between the words for the station's frequency numbers (in a jingle format) to go over. It will be a "swingle" (as I like to call it) when they are finished. The PD wont receive them for another week but wanted to hear the sweepers anyways.....

My bad! I'll post them when they are finished, it's an interesting format this station. "Pop FM" 70,80,90's and today....been seeing more and more of this!

Thanks,
Casey

Well this 70s, 80s, 90s format is what prevails here in the UK, it casts the net for a wider demographic, and very difficult to get right in my opinion. I think stations have been surveying wrongly, instead of surveying age and social status, they should be surveying "People types". By this I mean that there are guys for instance in their 50s who are corporate managers and doctors in suits.. but they're still into Rock (they're there at the gigs!). And similarly there's a huge crowd of young jeans and trainers people into Classical and Jazz. By using the old system we'd never find the right people-types for the formats.

WWW

Casey,

I am thinking NOW I have more competition.  LOL  I actually liked the sample--there is a lot going on, but i know what you are talking about when you say "this is what the PD wanted".  I have encountered the same thing--produced something that I didnt quite get, but the PD did.  Make sense?  It's good stuff and I would like to hear more.  I am SO behind with updating my 2007 demos.  I finally scored a full time job at a radio station here in Charleston, SC.  So Ive been getting used to the new schedule.  Hopefully, Ill be able to post something soon----and when I do Id love to hear your comments!

Bernie,

HEY MAN!  Im sorry we havent been in touch, but its been a busy 12 months for me.  Both good and bad.  I hope you are well and I always love when you mention my name in posts.  It gives me inspiration and makes me wanna work harder!  THANKS!  Have you been doing ok?  Hopefully Ill post some new stuff soon!

Smiles,

MM
