Can I Change Input/Output Names?
I recently installed an Alesis MultiMix 8 Firewire Mixer.
All of the inputs appear on the audio hardware tab, but some strange characters are appearing on each input line. I spoke with the folks at Alesis and they mentioned that this is known problem. The tech also mentioned that he thought it was possible to rename the inputs and outputs that appear in Audition, but he didn't know exactly how to accomplish this.
Can this be done, and if so, how?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Can I Change Input/Output Names?
Bernhime, I think you'll find that you can change the name for the DirectSound inputs and outputs, but not for ASIO devices.
If you go to edit/audio hardware setup, and select 'Audition Windows sound' in the audio driver drop down menu, and then click 'control panel', you'll get the DirectSound options. Double clicking on a name in that list will allow you to change the name, which presumably (I haven't tried it) will then show up elsewhere in the GUI.
However, with my M-Audio Delta1010, if I select it from the drop down menu and then select 'control panel', it launches the M-Audio specific software mixer, which does not allow renaming of devices.
Might be a case of YMMV.
Good luck.

Re: Can I Change Input/Output Names?
Yes I agree with Noddy. Even though I'm not that expert in changing the input and output names, I think there is possibility with what had suggested. Why not try it?
