WWW

Several of us seem to be ISO a nice solution for controlling the transport and various other functions with a remote device we can manipulate at a distance from our AA DAW.  I'm waiting to see if my wife got the hint and will give me a Red Rover for Christmas, but...

In cleaning up the studio over the weekend I came upon my pre-DAW recording standby, a perfectly serviceable Tascam 788.  It's got physical faders, transport controls, etc. - gee, looks a lot like a jumbo-jet version of a remote control device.  It's got a MIDI out and an SPDIF out.  Can I use it to control AA from afar via MIDI mappings?  I know diddly squat about this MIDI stuff but I recall that it can act as a MIDI master or slave.  I happen to also have a MIDI USB box lying around...can't even recall why I bought it, but I did.

So do I actually have all that I need right here, under my own naive gaze???   rolleyes

I did spend a few minutes perusing the MIDI stuff on AA but frankly it left me confused.  So is there a way to use my old crate as an AA controller?
