Problem with [url=ftp://...]

[[url=ftp://cooledit:sounds@www.cheap-tracks.com]AudioMasters Community FTP site[/url]]

To link to my FTP site, my signature has the url [url=ftp://cooledit:sounds@www.cheap-tracks.com]AudioMasters Community FTP site[/url]
but when I finish editing my profile the forum software puts an "http://" in front of the FTP ... 
[url=http://ftp://cooledit:sounds@www.cheap-tracks.com]AudioMasters Community FTP site[/url]
so the link doesn't work.  Is there any way to turn that "feature" off?  or is there some other way I should be entering the link so the forum doesn't think it's hosed?
