I just got a BCF2000 to do some mixdowns of some 8 track recordings made in AA.  However, it seems that AA is even less stable that usual with the bcf connected.  Don't get me wrong, I love AA2.0, but in stability, it leaves much to be desired.  Is there anything that I should be aware of when using this board, or is it just a fluke that AA crashes on my system with the bcf connected.

It's not like a once or twice thing, but like a once every 5 mins thing - aggravating.

Here's my current hardware setup in case that helps:

Macbook 1.8Ghz Intel Core Duo /w 2GB ram running XP SP2
EMU QuataFire 610
Behri BCF2000

Apparently there's quite a lot of stuff to be aware of - there is some detail in this thread, but we will have to get Alanofoz to post the more detailed files again, because they disappeared during an 'accidental' ftp site purge.

Hopefully, he'll see this thread and put them back!

I run AA2 with a BCF2000 without any problem so far.

Just one thought, before alanofoz comes in, hopefully.  Which emulation mode are you using?  I use Mackie Control Sonar, as previously advised by alanofoz and Ozpeter.

Make sure the BCF is connected to your computer via a USB cable but with the BCF turned off.  To enter this mode you need to press and hold the fourth from the left on the top row of non-rotary buttons whilst turning the unit on.  The display should read MCSo.

I presume you are dealing with a fairly recently-purchased BCF? If not, you may need to update the firmware to v1.1.  It's available from the Behringer website.  Speaking personally, there are other updates available there for the unit, which I found unnecessary, to the point where they prevented the BCF functioning properly.  I can't remember the exact problem but, for me at least, those other updates are definitely not needed.

HTH.

Thanks all, I will be reviewing the thread steve mentioned once I have a bit of time to wade through it.

Emmrecs, it is a new unit, but I am running in MCSo mode, and the firmware is updated.  Maybe I am jinxed when it comes to using AA, and it will crash regardless of what I do.

Hopefully, I will be able to resolve these issues soon, as it's hard to get a mixdown if AA crashes every couple minutes.  This forum, I believe, will be invaluable to me - already, the archives helped me get my bcf2000 running.  The user manual is less the useless IMHO.

Just one other thought then...

As I said before, there are other updates listed on the Behringer website, e.g Drivers, I think, which, when I installed them, caused the BCF to not work properly.  In my case I was able to uninstall them.

In fact, thinking about it now, I'm sure I'm running the unit WITHOUT any of the "official" drivers.  Did you install the Behringer drivers when you first used the unit?  It might be worth uninstalling them and seeing what happens.  You can always reinstall if there's no change.

I have tried the bcf with windows standard drivers, and with behringers drivers.  I have looked through the posts that were suggested in this thread, and still my beloved audition is crashing every 10 mins or so when I am using the BCF controller.

I am in the middle of a project that is rather urgent, but my controller is not working, and I haven't the foggiest how to mix with envelopes.  Can anyone give me some suggestions.  Is it possible that it would work better if I patched the board in via a midi cable instead of usb?

Am I alone in having troubles getting AA to run seamlessly with this board?

Just one final, perhaps not very helpful input from me...

I notice you are using a Macbook.  Could this be the problem, i.e there is some sort of conflict between the Mac and the BCF2000?

Sorry I can't think of anything else!

I can't say conclusivly that this is not the case - at least not until someone chimes in that has used it with a macbook - but seeing that is is compatable with mac I don't see this as being the issue.  So far I have not had a problem using any hardware with my macbook, if I boot to xp even windows only hardware works without a glitch.

I love my macbook!

i have used the BCF2000 without any problems.  i am also running in MCSo mode.

the only suggestion that i have is since you're working on something urgent mix using the mixer in audition for the time being, without using the BCF2000.

I am in the process of doing so - i miss my yamaha 01v96!!  I used to patch the outs of my rme card into the 01v96 and then mixed down "live" back into audition.  Fun times.

Just seen this thread. Still catching up on my forum reading after a 3 week Tasmanian holiday. I'll see what I can do in the next few days.
