For those of you who have a 360 shortcut editor as your phone editor, in your on air studio.  How do you transfer files from there to your AA1.5 for use in a promo or liner.  I have to transfer them in real time to a mini disc then back into my editor.  We have zip drives but once formatted for 360 they don't like to be read by my PC, does anyone have a file conversion program for transfering them, in a faster way.  thanks for your help.

I just dump to AA using the analog outs, through the board...Saves the MD step.  360 Systems have a very complete support system; I would check with the company!

When we had a 360, I'd just arrange a convenient time with the jock, pull it out of the control room, walk it down the hall, and plug it into the prod studio for the time it took to transfer off the audio.  Then walk it back down the hall.

We've since switched to VoxPro, so the jocks can send me WMA or WAV files via the station network.

James,

Hey buddy.  In my experience with 360's--there really isnt any other way.  We used to record them into the Scott system in the studio then access those files from a production room to email them, produce them or burn them to CD for use somewhere else.

Emmett had a good suggestion, but if your engineer is like most--they aint gonna have you re wiring anything at anytime--not even the experienced user, but you never know you might can get away with this--IF you know what you are doing and your engineer is cool.  Id hate to hear about your knocking the station off the air trying to get listener sound bytes.

Craig's idea is good too, but again the engineer would probably kill you.  Id do it the long way--if nothing else--to avoid having to hook all that stuff back up.

Id record them in real time, besides doing it this way ensures you are getting the exact material you are looking for....

Again--my 2 cents worth..

Smiles,

MM

At my group, we have SAS routers throughout the building.  I run the 360 through the audition or utility bus, through the talkback on our air studio board, then dial up the air studio feed in the production studio, using the SAS.

Of course, it's unlikely your studios are set up exactly the same way, but there may be something similar in-place, that will allow you to send the audition, auxiliary or ultility bus to a production studio....Grab an engineer and ask!

FWIW, I haven't used a ShortCut 360 since 1999, and all I really needed to do with it then was get the edited output into an Instant Replay II. Yes, it went real-time analog...

Thanks for the replies and ideas.  I will talk to the engineer to see if there is a way of routing it into my studio for recording.  Talking with 360 they have a firmware upgrade to transfer as a usuable wav to a zip drive, but the upgrade is around $400 a box so I don't think that will be happening soon.  So I guess it is back to mini disc for the time being.  Thanks for everyones help.
