This question probably applies to both AA 2.0 and earlier versions. I realize this may have been addressed earlier (since it seems like a basic question), but my searches so far haven't found it if it has.

If "Delete Selection" is applied within Edit View to a passage with non-zero amplitude, the selection gets deleted, but AA also inserts a click or pop at the point of the deletion. This seems to happen to some degree whether or not I use Zero Crossings to make the selection.

I've been able to bypass the immediate problem by doing splitting, overlapping and cross fading in Multitrack View, but that seems like quite a bit of overkill to perform what one would think should be a simple operation.

Am I missing something? Is there a more straightforward way to delete a selection in EV without introducing artifacts? I thought that's what Zero Crossings were for.

Thanks.

WWW

I've never really explored 'zero crossing', since I prefer to do any editing manually and I rarely seem to cut at the crosiing point anyway.

However, if you select a pair of zero crossing points and the first one is negative going and the second positive going (or vice versa) a click will surely result.

Have you had a close look at some of your poorer results?  That should reveal why you hear a click.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "manual" editing. Don't you use Delete Selection or <Del>?

I mean that I prefer to elect my own cutting points - these may well not be at the 'zero crossing' position.  Similarly, I don't use the automatic x-fade feature.

For someone who was brought up on brass scissors and razor blades, this is no big deal Smiley .
