Has anyone else had this problem I wonder. In the middle of a session, neither the space bar nor the play button work! I got an error about the selected driver not being available. It happened just after I had applied a Stretch effect on a file. So I opened up the Stretch effect again, ran a preview, closed it, and the Play was available again. How odd. I don't have any other audio programs running and if I did run a file in WMP, which I'm not sure I did, this would not be an odd thing for me to do. Going by some of the advice and explanations I've read here, I'm thinking that the driver was somehow tied up by something else and not released (??). But as I say, I have never had anything like this from Audition.

Yes, I've had the play button in the transport window grey out on me a couple of times. The simplest way I've found to fix it, was to close the transport window, then re-open it and all is well.

Typical computers, if it's nodda one thing it's anodder.

Does "selected driver" refer to the ASIO driver?  To quote Ozpeter:

Maybe something to do with System Sounds not being turned off in the relevant Windows control panel?

Nope, I'm not using an ASIO driver.

WWW

Same here with the demo - the transport greys out occasionally for no apparent reason.

Cheers

James.
