Enable auto-play in the file list, and then try changing the preview volume and clicking on the files. The actual volume played does not make much sense, the changes are applied in a chaotic fashion.

That's odd. I just tried it here with a huge pile of files, and it does exactly what it's supposed to - no unexpected levels at all, whatever you do. Any change you make is applied immediately.

Here is seems to have problems when files are short and the volume is adjusted after the file finished playing.  When I click on the file again, the new volume is not applied. I am talking about the Files panel in either EV or MV, Auto Play enabled.

That's what I tried - what I didn't do was adjust the volume after the files had finished - I'll try again.

Yup, changing the volume after the file has finished does not apply the new setting to the next file you select - you have to move the control actually whilst a file is playing to alter the volume. I don't know whether this is deliberate behaviour or not, quite frankly - or even whether anything can be done about it. I'll log it, though.

Also, it does not apply to the same file if you click on it again.

If it's a deliberate behaviour then the knob should jump back to zero or to whatever value it is.

How long was this product in beta testing? Probably no one is allowed to answer...

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the volume control there at all.

Do you mean that you don't care about the position of the volume knob, or what dB value is displayed there and whether or not it matches the actual setting?

Or do you think that the control and the ability to vary the preview's loudness is useless at all?

The latter - I wouldn't have bothered with a control at all. Sorry, I should have made that clearer.

I see. I found it useful to compare perceived loudness of two very quiet sound files whose level I had equated based on RMS.  If the knob worked properly, it would allow me to hear them properly without switching to windows mixer. There was no external hardware volume control available.   This is probably not so important, but as the feature has been added, it would be nice to have it working correctly.
