I'm trying to get rid of a problem with latency while playing my keyboard, using Reason 3 as a slave to AA 2.

After messing around a bit (i.e. changing the ASIO buffer size to 20ms) my situation now is that when I play back or record there will be no latency, but as soon as I stop playing back/recording and continue to play the keyboard, latency enters the scene.
The situation is the same whether Reason or AA is activated and whatever monitor option I choose in AA.

I don't have any problems of that kind when using Reason with SONAR.

Any suggestions ?

Edit : The above described situation was based on a test session with only 2 tracks, both rewire assigned.
When I got back to the "real" session in which I originally noticed the problem, there would still be latency problems also during play back - in spite of the change of buffer size.

By the way, can any one explain why AA freezes any time I try to set the ASIO buffer size ?
I've tried to do this with only AA running but after pressing "OK" my computer will be paralysed for around 30 seconds, before I'm able to reboot.
The funny thing is that when I re-open the session in question, the buffer size will be changed to the setting I made before AA went down.

My system :

Reason 3
AA 2
Focusrite Saffire audio interface
Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo (laptop)

Thanks and best regards

ASIO is not very good in Audition (there is a large thread that discusses it here: http://audiomastersforum.net/amforum/viewtopic.php?t=4675 )

For general ASIO problems (although it doesn't seem like you are having any with other software), ozpeter found this helpful article about latency:

could you post more specifics about your computer?

I noticed that thread some days ago but I only got through page 1 I'm afraid.
It didn't seem to adress my specific problem, but now I can see that it actually does on the following pages rolleyes

I'll have a closer look at the thread, but my imidiate conclusion is that AA is still a much heavier engine than SONAR, which unfortunately means that it's much to early for goodbyes to the latter.

My computer is centrino based, 1.8 gHz cpu with 1 GB RAM and 2x60 GB hardiscs.

Thanks a lot for your reply and the links.
