WWW

I'm setting up 2.0 and I can't seem to set up my devices. For inputs I use a MOTU324 from my 2408mkII. For output I use my Soundblaster5.1. In AA1.5 there were seperate setups for in/out. But in AA2.0 I seem to only be able to use either MOTU or SB for both. I went through documentation with no luck.

Can anyone assist? This will be a deal breaker for me.

Well, you certainly can't do this with ASIO devices - they end up dedicating themselves to the application they are using - and that's it.

But it might well be worth checking (if you don't mind using WDM) the Control Panel option in Windows Sound. If more than one card is available, this is where they will be listed, and can be selected.

If the freeware Asio4All driver suits your system, it allows you to specify within the driver's control panel at least two soundcards and then in Audition you can select which to use for input and output.  I just tried to be sure!

Yeah I did that last night!  I need to find out how to synch a usb 1.1 soundcard with a motherboard audio chipset.  How do you guys shift latency around?

I should have clarified, I am referring to Multitrack mode. I updated the driver but it did not change anything.  It appears that you can only select one device.

However, I was able to take my 23&24 channel on the 2408mkII and dedicate them to the output. I routed them in the extenal input of my Mackie desk and it works fine.

Speaking of Mackie, I notice my MCU is not happy. It's mostly in the display department. Perhaps I'll let that stew for a while and if I need assistance I'll start another thread.

Jury is still out at the moment. I'm glad I didn't dump 1.5... otherwise I'd be out of business.

Thanks to all for the replies.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone that they do anything business critical with a brand new program till they'd soak tested it for quite some time!  This is not a tweak of the former program - in effect it's a complete rewrite.  But one which should present a shortish learning curve for old hands.

Referring to my original post at the top...

Installing ASIO4All v2 driver and updating the MOTU driver did the trick. Now both the Sound Blaster and the MOTU are available in the multitrack mode. I can easily select any input from the MOTU 2408mkII for any track, and monitor through the SB5.1 just like we did in AA1.5..

I did have a precise ticking on the first test tracks I recorded. Switching the clock source to the ADATs I am using for A/D converters did the trick.

There are some quirks with my Mackie MCU, but I’ll mess with it some more and start another thread if I need to.

Big Thank You props go to SteveG and ozpeter! As the hurdles are cleared I am really warming up to this program. I won’t use it on clients yet, but after today, it won’t be long!
