Adobe Audition 2.0 and Digi001

I don't know if I have a strange case or not.  I have always been a good CE/Adobe guy and have always used it.  A couple of years ago, I purchsed the Digi001 and along with it came pro tools.  I never really got much time to actually play around with pro tools because my motherboard wasn't compatible with the pro tools scheme and i had to wait till i could get a new motherboard.  low and behold.. as soon as i get pro tools up and running..   I see Adobe Auditions new rendition saying they support ASIO drivers so.  So I got to thinking.  

"What if I could use the Digi001 with Adobe Audition?  That way I can still get my real recording done and learn Pro Tools at the same time.  and btw.  i'm not too thrilled with pro tools especially the part where you have to bounce down tracks tod disk"

anyway.. I gave it a shot.. and you know what.  It worked.  I run a small studio so I don't need the most fancy smancy set up but I work with what I have.  I had it working a couple of days ago.. and now I can still record with the mic into the digi001 and you can hear the music through the headphones in the booth but i can't get it to where you can hear actually hear yourself in real time.  I am still working on that.  If any has any configurations they have already tried with this, let me know.. it would be appreciated.. share you expericence if desired.

3-4 Outs on back of Digi001 to mixing board inputs lines 29 and 30.  Playback is flawless..     I'm using it for left and right..

1-2 Ins on back of Digi001 to mixing board outputs lines master left/right (that didn't work)

now remember.. all i need is to hear the voice in the head phones before a person actually starts recording.. it's like there's no signal going into the mic but it's recording.. so there is a signal...  it's just hard to work with it when you can't hear yourself.

any suggestions???

There are two ways I see of doing this -

The first (easiest) way is go into your soundcard's mixer software to enable direct monitoring of your microphone input to your Digi's output that the headphones are plugged into (if that is not specific enough, im sure others can chime in who have used that piece of hardware).  This will be "realtime", and should have no latency or delay.  

The second way is to have Audition monitor the input.  To do this, you select the input to record and output to monitor to, then arm the track to record. Make sure Audition's monitoring is internal, it is in the box at the lower right part of the screen (im at work atm, so I can't be more specific).  The advantage to this type of monitoring is that you can feed realtime effects, for example, studio reverb, straight into your headphones from the input.  You will need to have low enough ASIO latency to monitor real-time in audition,  which you should be able to change in your cards ASIO settings.  

If you are just looking to simply monitor your vocals while recording, the first option is probably your best bet.

In multitrack view (I'm assuming you are recording there) go to Options > Monitoring and select Audition Mix > Smart Input.  See if that helps.

THANKS..  adobe audition works like a charm using the digi001.  now I have a choice between interfaces  I want to use.. either AA 2.0 OR Pro Tools 6.4.  I was really tired of trying to learn Pro tools.. i'm an average user but I know AA, just not the busses and all that..  but anyway.. thanks dudes..
