No, it was a fine idea, and had the old forum been more similar to this one, at least in the area of how e-mail info is displayed, it would have been possible.  

I, for one, would like to learn what the radio market is doing for commercial production these days.

I'm a radio junkie.  First job was back in the early 70's doing all nights at an fm rock station.  Still involved with radio 30 years later and what a long strange trip its been.  Stumbled across the forum  - "Hey Great!"  I thought to myself.  Mostly I lurk, seeing whats going on, but would like to take some time to share meaningful dialog on a forum with this subject.  Is there anybody out there....?

Hi BFM, See you're from England.  Central California USA here.  I guess I'm waxing nostalgic a bit today as yesterday the station where I worked for the better part of 5 years had the sale finalized by the FCC.  It's now a Spanish language station and thus I now no longer claim the distinction of gainful employment as "operations mgr" for a radio station.

I enjoy all facets of broadcast:  on air... production... copywriting... sales/promotions, etc and have done all the mentioned for country, smooth jazz, CHR, AOR and classical radio stations.

The thing I enjoy most is Production.  For many years I've produced spots from my home studio, which has evolved from a tape based room in the early '80's (16 trk RtoR) to today using various software for their unique features:  SawPro, CE Pro 2, and Sound Forge are ones I use most.  Mostly voiceover music production and the occasional a jingle project using pre-produced beds or even a band if theres a budget.
