Maybe someone captured the stream and can make it available for those of us who missed out?

Thanks, plook - I doubt whether even any of my dedicated fans went that far - even my wife didn't listen to it!  (But she had the excuse of being confined to bed unwell - possibly the effect of the prospect of spending the evening with me at a Valentine's dinner).

I did record the direct output from my mixer before it was mangled by the broadcast chain, but of course the usual copyright restrictions apply.  We won't even be able to send a compilation to the performers - each act will get a CD containing only their own material.  You can't be too careful in these matters nowadays!

But there's a further listening opportunity (subject as SteveG notes to the reduction to mono of the internet stream, which pretty much negates the usefulness of the exercise) - at 8.30pm local time tonight there's a chamber concert going out on the same station, one of a regular series recorded, and edited with Audition, by me myself.  That's about 11 hours from the date of this post.  The mic technique is an MS pair with a spotter at the tail of the piano for 'focus', but in mono you won't be able to tell much I fear.

... It's a outside broadcast from a bookshop (would you believe), involving interviews with local musicians who then get up and play...

Might this become a recurring event?  If so - a day or so before the broadcast  we can post instructions so everybody can get set up with Total Recorder.

Sorry I missed the broadcast.  Sounds like fun - except for the hot coffee.

The OB was a one off - though all concerned did say afterwards "that was fun, let's do it again!" - so we'll see...  In May we do a Radiothon thing which involves nightly live spots for which I'll be responsible  from a studio improvised in the the station's front office..... new premises with a proper performance studio is in the works.    The Sunday evening (local time) concert programme is a weekly event - I'm responsible for providing the material for it, and there's three of us who take it in turns to do the actual recording.  It varies from solo recitals up to full symphony orchestra.

Yeah, that was it.... thanks for your interest and sorry for slow response.

I've been offline for a while due to studio reinstallation.  Boy, that was a worthwhile exercise!  Completely ripped everything out.... Filled the vacuum cleaner with dust... then reinstalled with a ruthless approach to what is actually necessary.  Out went the patchbay, which had never been repatched since I installed it, so now there are less contact points and interconnects.  Out went one of the two DAT machines.  Out went the PowerMac, together with its monitor which was occupying rather a lot of desk space, which hadn't seen action for at least a year.  In went a DVD player and some more video-related stuff.  In went a better digital interconnection arrangement.

Now I feel much more like actually getting on and doing some work!

I did the whole "Spring cleaning" thing last spring and am already overdue for another.  I am contemplating adding onto my studio for storage.  After a while, I get tired of looking at alot of the equipment (amps, stands, guitars and cases) that are out laying around not being used.  I can't (don't even want to) get rid of them, but would like to see less of them.

I can only wish I had equipment just lying there and not being used cheesy  The little I have HAS to get used in order to get things done hehe.

You're doing well to avoid temptation in those studio equipment stores, AMSG.  There's a smell in them which is unique and which always causes my wallet to start burning a hole in my pocket.  I'd say my overall philosphy in relation to recording matters is "keep it simple, keep it streamlined" (and thus keep it profitable) but I guess I just keep weakening.

Also trying to keep up to date is a snare and delusion.    There is always something much better about to be released in comparison with whatever you've just excitedly bought....

Well, I can resist most of the times. That' true...but quite often there's also a lack of funds lol.  So I just can't get new equipment wink

And about those updates...that's very true. It's always hard to chose the right moment I think. Because you always know or feel that something else is waiting behind the corner just to be released pretty soon, hehe.

My gear "acquisition" ain't what it used to be.  When you take into consideration that I've been doing some form of music (performing, recording, etc) for over 30 years, it's no surprise that I've amassed a fairly huge "bit of kit" (as our English breatheren like to say).  FWIW, I did alot of session work as a guitarists in the late 70's - early 80's and at that time, getting hired had a much to do with your equipment as your playing ability.  I made good money doing it, and... invested alot "keeping up with the Jones".  I've been doing Sound Reinforcement for hire for a long time and again, have spent a considerable amount of money there as well.  When I first started recording, I did alot of "buy, selling and trading" to aquire recording equipment and still do occasional jobs to buy pieces of equipment.  Hell.. I've done sessions where I was paid in equipment.  I have just about gotten over the "gotta have the newest thing" afliction and have managed to hold onto some good (and some lousy) equipment.  Would I like to have a box full of Neve preamps?  Yes.  But, it ain't gonna happen.

I feel that this is still the case sad enough. Be it as guitarist or recording engineer. People often judge by the looks of things. Some guy I know who makes great mixes got that problem. He has some great gear but it's not like "the big studio's". So when he started out, it took a while before people got convinced that a studio that looked like that could produce such results.
