MATLAB - sound

I need to do a thesis about a program to produce a 3D sound, and I'm new to MATLAB.

I had done the sound which come from direction left to right and right to left.. But failed to convert the sound wave which moving from back to front and top to bottom and vice versa. Anyone know how to do it?  Thanks in advanced!!!

Do a search for Head Related Transfer Functions to start with.
