Cool Edit 96 goes through the motions but records nothing
I've been using CE96 for years on several different computers and operating systems with no problem until now. My last computer was a HP Pavillion Media Center running Windows XP and CE would record the audio from TV programs as well as the audio from internet sources. Several months ago I bought a new HP Pavillion Media Center system running Windows Vista with bigger and better everything in it but CE96 will not record from any source in the system. It starts up fine and when I start a recording it goes through all the motions as it always had before but doesn't actually record anything, just shows a flat line on playback with no sound at all. I thought maybe there was some difference in the parmeters of the sound system in the old vs new computers so I fired them both up and compared them and found only minor differences which I changed to match the old system. Still no worky. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CE96 several times to no avail. Oh, and CE also does play existing sound files either. Just as in the record mode, the playback goes through all the right motions but no sound comes out of the speakers. And yes, my speaker system is working fine in all other sound related programs. Lastly, the soundcards in the computers are different but that has been true in every computer I have used CE96 with in the past. Any ideas, please?
