I encountered a problem. I have a client that asked me to provide him with a custom music. I delivered it to him but the problem is, the file's memory on disk is 26.5 MB He want it to be smaller. Now I don't know how to that. Can anybody please tell me on how to do that? Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

You mean you delivered him an mp3 of 25.5MB and he wants it to be smaller. First you could try to lower the bitrate: a lower bitrate = smaller file. I don't know if mp3 supports lower samplerates and bitdepths but as a last resort you could try that as well.

Always start from the original (wav?) file, don't go succesively lower and lower.

My rule of thumb was always to reduce the sample rate rather than the bit depth (ie stick at 16 bits) and don't go below a compression ratio with mp3 of 10:1. I used to deal mainly with speech, though.

Not sure if this answers the question! The important things to know include how long the music is, and whether the 25.5megs is in wave format or mp3.

O Thanks! I'll consider that options. For the mean time I will keep on discovering new ways on how to compress it with out sacrificing the quality of the audio.

WWW

For the mean time I will keep on discovering new ways on how to compress it with out sacrificing the quality of the audio.

Unless you go for a specifically lossless algorithm, quality is bound to suffer.

Lossless formats (Monkeys, FLAC, etc.) wil retain the quality, but are not capable of producing the small files of the lossy methods.  Very generally speaking, lossy formats will result in files around 1/10th of the original size, whereas lossless systems only manage around 1/2 .

My problem about the loss less (FLAC) I find it hard to find a suitable program to play it. Do you have any suggestions?

This is possible to reduce the size of music file
Now you need to convert your big size music file to low size
In the market, various software's are available to perform your need.

best of luck..
