hello everyone,
i am new to midi and i am editing a world war 2 semi documentary-radio novel with footsteps explosions and a plethora of effects i generated in mp3, i have an axiom 49 piano from m audio and i want to assign some of the mp3s i already have, to be triggered by assigning them to specific keys...that way i will be able to sync some efects with the images by doing it "on the fly" as the video plays, i generate the soundtrack

my question is very simple:

HOw do I assign mp3 files to my midi keyboard?
Is there a plug in that does it?

again , i know midis are not mp3s  ad i hope my question is not too basic ...and honestly,
 all your help is appreciated

cheers

WWW

In Audition 3 you should be able to use a sampler VSTi plug-in. I don't have version 3 so I don't know if it comes with a sampler as standard - most other VSTi supporting software that I've used comes with a basic sampler.

Cheers

James.

WWW

I don't think that Audition 3 comes a vsti sampler.

This year I did something similar to what you want to do, using Reaper and ReaSamplomatic (comes with Reaper).  I used a midi controller to trigger spooky sounds for a haunted house.  It was fairly easy to set up.  Just set ReaSamplomatic to trigger on either a certain Midi channel, or note.  I didn't actually record the data for playback since this was used just for real-time over a music bed.  But it wouldn't be too hard to set it up for midi recording.

Now I did it all with Reaper...but if you can find good vsti sampler you should be able to set it up the same way.

EDIT:  Each sound I wanted to trigger had it's own track with an instance of ReaSamplomatic on it.  This way I could mix in each sound just how I wanted it.  Doing it that way you could even go back and automate the sounds if you wanted.
