I'm wondering what kind of analysis could be done in AA between the two to try to verify or at least point to whether it might be the same person or not.
Audition isn't particularly good for that, although you might be able to make and compare spectrographs of identical words being spoken if you can find any - the epiglotis (which controls the harmonic spectrum to a large extent shouldn't have altered that much - unless you only have child recordings to compare with.
There are some more specialised tools available though, and a few shareware or trial versions around too. Try looking at the following links, or Google
* 'voice analysis software' for some more.

* Or any other engine of your choice. Apparently Google doesn't like us to use the word 'Google' as a general purpose verb, especially when potentially referring to other search engines, but I will continue to do so as it's now in the OED. So there!
