Hi guys,

As a long time basic user of Cool Edit I have now decided to save mp3 files at a higher bitrate.
The problem is, when I select the desired bitrate then click OK the bitrate doesn't save and reverts back to the default 126Kbps.

I know it's probably something simple that I'm NOT doing, but I just can't work out what.

Any points gents?

Regards,

Kevin

You might get on better if you save your settings as a preset first. But there's no obvious reason why it shouldn't work, as far as I can see. What is the sample rate of the file you are trying to save?

Try clicking the CBR radio button. If you use the VBR option, the algorithm will determine what bitrate is used.

Thanks for the prompt reply Steve.
I did try the save preset option and it reverted back to the default.

The file I'm trying to save after normalising is 320Kbps I know that I will suffer some loss but the least loss the better obviously. Smiley

I'm wondering if it would be due to the fact that I'm using onboard audio? P4P800 SE

Hi Phil,

Tried saving on the default CBR 120Kbps and it did save as a 120Kbps file but won't save as a higher quality closer to the orginal 320Kbps.
