Audio randomly slowing down / distorted

Giving AA 2.0 a spin again....................

Tested a AA1.5 session in AA 2.0 (after saving the session with a different name) Plybck was fine. Opened a second session of the same song in a different folder (already there on the HDD) and now plbk is slow and dist.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The benefits of Trial Software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Closed it down. Opened up to "Please buy!!!!" Continued trial.........Sound is perfectly clear. Now I arm a trk for rec / Set the ch 3 L IN Ch 3 out - slow fuzz!!!!!!!!!! Possibly too many open trks. Test rec 1 trk only was OK. Must be trial behavior is suspect. One never knows when AA2.0 will slowfuzz the sound!!!!!!

Made a 2 trk mix. Imported it into AA2.0. Plybk = Fine. Press REC and slowfuzz. What kind of 30 day trial software is this? Random clear / fuzz plybk. Can rec one single trk alone. Can't rec one trk to a session mix imported from AA1.5.

How do I know AA2.0 will be ok if/when I buy? The 30 day trial is supposed to work 100%.

Is this the same PC as the one in your other topic http://audiomastersforum.net/amforum/index.php/topic,6349.0.html? If yes, make sure that problem is solved. AA (whatever version) is depending on proper installation of (audio) drivers.

And in general, AA2 has some additional functions, which could be useful is you need them. Check this forum or the Adobe Audition site and forum for an overview of the functions. A known phenomenon of AA 2 is that it starts rather slowly the first time after turning on you PC.

In the "other" pblm - AA1.5 goes out of sync after 2 min recording. Changed drivers to the latest and to earlier versions of Mona / Echoaudio / Win XP Pro. AA 2.0 can't BEGIN to record. If it was the same "Driver" pblm then I would be able to get a sec of rec in AA 2.0 right? In the AA2.0 "Demo," opening a session creates a clear as day sound. Then hit the rec button for a trk and slowfuzz. This is at 9632. Tested WDM and purewave versions of the mona driver.

Did you install Asio4All (http://www.asio4all.com/)? Try it, and configure AA2 to use it as its audio driver (Edit/Audio Hardware Setup/, use tabs Edit View and Multitrack View. This solved my initial sound problems with AA, and it works like a charm.

Thanks Stan Will need to play with the settings. Asio for all can work at 9632. Possibly when I applied the ASIO driver, it test recorded a session at default of 44.1. Have to adjust to get what I need: 9632. New system. New rules!!!!!!!!

Hmmm... with my MOTU Traveler (which nominally runs at up to 192k) I can't get ASIO4ALL to run at more than 48k. Whether this is a limitation of the Traveler WDM I'm not sure, but I think it's more likely to be an ASIO4ALL limitation, one way or another. At a glance I couldn't see anything on the website to indicate, but this still seems to be the most likely explanation. 32-bit operation is fine, though.

Somehow after removing the ASIO direver, I corrupted hal.dll - had to delete my XPPro partition and am now reinstalling XPPro et all.

Thanks for the concern and the site!! My XPPro is one of the earliest upgrade CDs. It doesn't have recovery console!! I seriously need to find out how to download / install it off the MSFT site. When I install Windows Setup from the 6 floppy disk set, and then choose repair / windows recovery - it fixes the registry. Then reboots. My XPPRo is on a separate 20GB partition on a 120GB drive. It seemed the only way to go w/o having access to the recovery console. The price I pay for laziness = 12 hours reinstalling XPPro / updating / figuring out (writing down) how I creatively installed Epson R340 via USB mass storage device (method brilliant when thought of / but brainless when forgotton)!!

BTW AA 2.0 is amazing. It's definitely a buy.

Well, sometimes its just laziness, sometimes it's just bad luck. Good to hear AA2 is a keeper!
