Undoubtedly this has been covered before ... but I haven't been able to find it yet. An associate wants to use AA 2.0 but wants to know if those still using 1.5 will be able to read his audio files.

WWW

Not the .SES (Session) files, but the WAV and other basic audio files are not proprietary formats and will work fine in older versions of Audition.

Any audio files will be OK. They are all standard file formats.

.ses files are slightly different. AA2 can read AA1.5 sessions and convert them to it's own format but AA2 .ses files cannot be read by AA1.5.

Thanks. I knew there were some file changes .. but wasn't sure exactly what. You have answered the question.

Except Ogg, which is not supported in 1.5.

Okay ... we've used that --YET -- but we'll keep that in mind.

[Wet blanket alert]The longer I use 2.0 and find that the rewritten effects sound and mix differently than in 1.5, the panning law alters the mix, and even track EQ doesn't behave the same way, the more I am convinced that the best way to make use of 2.0 is to start from absolute scratch.  Unless the sessions are very basic or you don't care about such details, a lot of mix finesse can be lost by opening a 1.5 session in 2.0.
