Hi Gang:

I've got a really basic question about AA 2.0.

I encounter the following problem whether I'm recording, or even playing something back. If I minimize AA, the recording/playback comes to a grinding halt. This even happens if I attempt to open a web browser such as IE 7, without minimizing AA.

I'm wondering if this is "normal" behavior, and if so -- are there any workaround solutions that would allow me to have AA play (or record) a file in the background while I am working in a different application?

Thanks,

Mike

Check the settings for your soundcard.
I have an M-Audio Delta1010, and in the settings for the card is an option to "Release ASIO driver in background".
If your soundcard has something like this, you do NOT want that box ticked/checked. Essentially, it says "If Audition is not in the foreground, then free up the soundcard for other use", hence why your recording stops.
Hope this helps.

This is an AA2 setting not a soundcard one. Is accessible from the Edit Menu under Audio Harware Setup panel.

Thank you both!

It was an ASIO driver issue. Ryclark, I followed your suggestion and it corrected the problem instantly.

I love this place!

Thanks again.

dza, I've had the same problem. I asked on the Adobe forum, and it looks like it's a repeatable issue.

I've just raised a support issue for this with Adobe. I'll keep everyone posted. (Here's hoping they don't just say "oh, that's unsupported"...)

The Adobe thread in which I outlined what happens on my laptop regarding this is here. Wild Duck's comment at the end about the Windows>ASIO bug may also apply, but it would only be a side effect, I think.
