AA2 and Digi001 on a X64 system - NEED HELP!!!!
hello all.. I'd like to commend everyone for the imput they give me from time to time when I just can't get it right ya know!... anyway... here's the skinny..
Decided it was time to get some new stuff.. so I purchased this computer...
HP Pavilion AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2.19GHz, 1.93GB of RAM
I'm sure it's strong enough to do what ever I need, but I'm having serious problems getting my AA2 to pick up the ASIO driver for my Digi 001. I have tried everyting, updating drivers for the 001 (which I think is probably the source of my problem) But just by chance, was wondering if anyone knew what my problem is? My system is very unstable and sometimes it crashes or locks up. Right now, I can view the Digi001 in the Edit/Devices screen but it doesn't fire up. Like I have have the X6 linked directly to the 001 as I did with my old 32bit 1500+ system and I'm getting no sound. Matter of fact, I'm getting no meters either. It's really hurting business right now and I'm about to either rob a bank or call someone for money! Got to pay bills.. Anyway.. if anyone is familiar with my problem... PLEASE o PLEASE .. let me know something if you can. thanks a bunch for your time and reading.....

Hmm... I recall that others have had this problem too. The driver set that is generally used to let the Digi001 work standalone is 6.1.1 - more info
here

I'm really in a pickle right now though.. thanks.. getting hold of a digidesign tech is painful btw.. and theyre's not much mention of x64 on their site i regret to tell...
thanks though steve.. let me continue looking.. can you point me in the direction of those other people that were having the same problem? thank you.

I honestly can't remember where I read about this now - and a quick search didn't reveal the answer either. This
may
have been a query on the Adobe forum...

Not necessarily. And the drivers will be different.

The 64-bit microprocessors are 32-bit backwards compatible.
So I think (I'm not sure) that you can also run 32-bit XP for eg..
If it's a 64-bit XP you will need 64-bit drivers as well.

well... i've REALLY messed it up now...
figure out what my problem was and why i couldn't get the digi, pro tools and AA to all work at the same time was that pro tools only supports xp pro. well tried to install a fresh copy of xp pro on the studio computer and now it won't even boot up.. a new computer down the drain.. when i bought the hp, it had xp media center loaded on it. so now i have to contact the manufacturer and see what i can do about getting an OS for this again. I looked in the box.. it didn't include any disks.

I've installed a few Dell computers that came that way. Instructions stated user should burn certain folders to a CD before "installing" and formatting any of the software that came with the computer - software located only on the HD (no CD disks). These then become the recovery disks. If someone doesn't see those instructions before installing and formatting the software, they are indeed out of luck.
Progress.

ok.... in luck.. found my old xp pro sv pack 2 disk. installed that. loaded fresh copy of that back on cpu. Had to actually bring computer home to play around with it. The digi card is still in there, I didn't bring the digi 001 home with me. I will be skipping work tomorrow go to the building and start hooking it all back up together. I pray this was all it was.. . the digi box not being able to read the OS that was loaded on there.. ie. the media center edition.. well everything looks super perfect and it's moving at the speed of light right now also.. ran a few tests on it... and it should be a good recording comp. will follow up with you all tomorrow and let you know how it goes in the studio...
