Can't Unlock Audio Clean-up Plugin
I have a problem of not being able to unlock the CE2000 audio plugin I bought about 3-4 years ago from Syntrillium. I had to replace my hard drive recently and thought I was in good shape because I had saved all of my installation programs on CDs. Everything worked except the Cool Edit2000 plugin.
I was able to re-install CE2000 OK because I still have my main file and the reg file. But the ck2knr file will install only in demo mode, even if I put my registration number in. This is a problem in that I can't use the hiss reduction and clip restoration utilities without getting those pesky random tones. I have ClickFix to remove pops & clicks and the noise reduction utility still works too.
Any clues on how to fix this problem? I've uninstalled CE2K and the plugin, wiped the registry clean and re-installed the program and the plugin (several times) ... but get the same result every time. I'm beginning to think the reg code for the plugin is different than for the main program but it's been so long since the original installation that I can't remember (and I don't have a separate reg code for the plugin any longer, if that's what I need).

Can't Unlock Audio Clean-up Plugin
Welcome to the forum.
Plugins all had their own unique registration codes, yes. But if you can prove that you bought the plugin (which Adobe will have a record of) then they will probably be able to provide you with the code that went with your particular installation/registration - they have to be in the same name, and they do undertake to sort out these problems, I believe.
So, a call to Adobe support should sort you out, I think.

Thanks, Steve!
Thanks Steve,
I'll call Adobe tomorrow. The interesting thing is that I still have an e-mail message from Syntrillium giving me the registration code for Cool Edit 2000 but not the one giving the registration code for the plugin. I'm usually pretty careful about keeping these records but I really messed this one up!
I'll post an update to let the forum know what kind of success (if any) I have with Adobe.

Follow-up With Adobe
I called Adobe Customer Service to see if they could recover the key code (or registration code) that would allow me to unlock the Audio Clean-up plug-in. But, unfortunately, no luck with that avenue. The Customer Service people were polite (got shuffled around to a couple of different reps) but finally I was told that Adobe stopped supporting Cool Edit, that it had been too long since I bought the plug-in and the only possible solution for me was to go to Adobe's forum on its website and see if someone had any helpful ideas.
In the meantime, I've been turning my house upside-down to see if I might have been alert enough to save that key code somewhere in some secret place I can't recall. No luck on that approach so far either. Soooo, it looks as though I'll never be able to unlock this plug-in. That's what I get for a momentary lapse in alertness. I'm amazed at all the other useless stuff I've saved instead!

Can't Unlock Audio Clean-up Plugin
After finally replacing my 8-year-old PC, I now have the same problem with the Tweakin' Tools, except that some of them
do
work; others pop up a window saying that I am using a trial version of the tools. I had all my registration codes together and thought I was good to go.

Can't Unlock Audio Clean-up Plugin
Well, my audio clean-up plugin may not work either, even with the right registration code. But I won't know for sure unless I find my code at some point. The frustrating thing is that I know the code must be embedded somewhere in the installation file I have but I have no way of reading the file to see what the code the program is expecting. Even more frustrating is the fact that I paid for a plugin that I can't now use because of the way Syntrillium set up the registerion of its programs. It counted on users not ever losing those codes, which is pretty unrealistic.
