Hi! New to the forums, and just got a little question;

haven't purchased audition yet but got a question wich i can't seem to find!

Is it possible to make group channels in audition and put dx/vst effects over a group?

i want to rewire reason to audition and i got my drums layered but i want the drums to be grouped in audition so i can put effects over the whole sound of the drum sound. For example i got 3 kicks in reason layered and i send them through 3 different mono channels to audition, is it possible to group these 3 mono channels in audition itself and apply dx/vst effects ?

Thanks in advance!

Add a Bus track and send the channels you want grouped into that bus.  Put the effects on the bus.  Voila!

 Cool

Hi and welcome to the forums. If and when you get this sorted out, I'd love to know how you do it. I'm still having problems getting this to work and your outcome would help. Keep in touch.

I know this has been mentioned before - by Steve I think, but remember when you send channels to a bus, select "none" in the bottom send of each channel instead of "Master", otherwise you send both to the bus and the master

Yes, it's in the sticky about importing 1.5 sessions into 2.0.

yeah i know i worked it out last night and it works great!

allthough i had another little question : when rewiring reason to audition my computer becomes very slow! audition takes very long to load some effects and stuff.. i got 768 mb of ram and i rewired before with reason and cubase but had no probs with slow cpu usage.. i just wanted to stick with audition because i've worked for years with cool edit..

somebody know how to handle this slow cpu usage?

Export the files out of Reason and skip using it with Re-wire and Audition all at the same time.

Seriously, Audition 2.0 is a bit of a resource hog.  It's compatibility with a Re-wired Reason has, according to some of the contributors here, been spotty at best.  Beyond that, more qualified contributors will have to weigh in.

that takes away the whole advantage of rewiring.. if i got a track with like 10 tracks im not waiting to export them all ..

i guess i'll be trying out cubase.. too bad..

by the way.. i also dont like the fact that you can only play and stop in audition while rewiring..

We run Reason on the Mac laptop and channel the sound in via S/PDIF digital feed, FWIW.  Works great but isn't the cheapest solution.

I don't.

I record them direct off of the s/pdif feed from the Mac laptop.

S/PDIF = Sony/Philips Digital InterFace.  Basically Ultra is feeding in another set of physical inputs, as opposed to Rewire (which could be regarded as virtual inputs).  But since S/PDIF is digital, there are no conversion losses.  The downside is that you'll need S/PDIF ins/outs on both machines, which is why Ultra said that it isn't the cheapest solution.
