Is there any way to move a panel without "floating" it?  My AA 1.5 setup has the TIME panel to the right of the ZOOM panel, but  I can't see any way of making 2.0 that way.  You can tab, float, defloat, make coffee, etc. with the panels - but I can't seem to simply swap positions.

One thing that I like about some software is the attempt to ease the transition by having a setting that's as much like the old workspace as possible within the confines of the new UI.

I just tried this, and it's very simple to achieve what you want. Pick up the time (or the zoom) box by the bobbly bit at the top left next to the name , and move it so that it illuminates the left or right segments in the box beside it (depending on which way you want to move it). Drop it there. You're done. If you drop it in the middle, you'll end up having it tabbed, which is probably not what you want! The key to moving things is to see what gets illuminated when you do it.

Snap

Yes I prefer it that way as well. It is quite easy to move. Click and hold on top left tab of the Zoom panel. Then move the cursor until you get a blue/grey highlight on the left edge of the Time panel. Let go the mouse button and it will drop the Zoom panel there.

See Ozpeter's tutorial on Work Spaces.

AH!  Yes.  That's it.  I kept tabbing the thing. I did notice the blue part change location, but thought I'd already tried the "more left" as opposed to "center" position, and thought it had just tabbed it but made it the leftmost tab.

Silly me.  Thanks, guys.

Another unpaid advertising feature for Ozpeter's excellent Workspace tutorial at:  http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@357.UV3JfpTyNZH.1721497@.3bbe12d4/0

Without it, I'd likely still be cursing and kicking walls!

Yeah, but I don't know much HTML and know how to work my way around AudioMasters better.

So here is a link (202kB) to my MV Workspace with a small video window (the full-sized one floats over the tracks, which won't always do).  The trick is having the video window stack singly alongside two rows.

MC's Multitrack layout with a small video window.

The meter is huge to allow for 6 output tracks.

I don't use the organizer window often, nor markers and effects.  So those are docked, mostly hidden, behind the master volume control of the mixer.  Had I two monitors, I'd gladly open the mixer up.  As it is, when I need it, a quick resize drag opens it up or gives me the track space back again.

But I seem to have some instability once my workspace is set, since the default meter size is too narrow for my tast and the time readout is too small, and once in awhile, perhaps from resizing the whole Audition window, they collaspse back down to small size.

Just for fun, it would be nice to see a workspace utilizing 2 monitors.

Or there's the ~ keystroke that makes any panel full size.  You have to select the panel by clicking on its left hand tab first, not anywhere else.

http://tinyurl.com/8ajuo takes you to a thread on the Adobe site with workspace pictures including dual monitor.  It's intriguing how differently people arrange them.

I've attached mine.  This is just my first attempt at replicating (and slightly improving upon) the layout I used in previous versions, so I am still wasting some space (I've cropped off the spare space to the right).  One really neat thing about the named workspaces is that I can create my standard workspaces for my laptop at home, and separate ones for when I take my laptop on the move.  Previously, I had to keep the organiser and frequency and phase analysis windows overlapped onto the right edge of the primary monito, so that I could grab them onto the main monitor if I didn't have a 2nd monitor plugged in.  What would be really nice is if the floating windows didn't always sit in front of the main window...

I'm not showing a multitrack layout, because I haven't customised one for myself yet, and have just been using the Maximum Session (Dual Monitor) workspace bundled with AA2.  And, I must say, I was particularly impressed to see default dual monitor workspaces included.  I can see I'll need to get a triple-head system to stay ahead of the pack.  smiley

BTW, for those with higher resolution monitors, I've have uploaded an unscaled copy of the image.
