Similar to rgarcia82's situation, I rebooted my computer, ran the install program again (which first uninstalled what it left over the first time it failed installing) and installed just fine.  Now I am in the process of setting up the program, am I am having a bit of a rocky start...

WWW

I can't replicate my error using the originally downloaded file.  I also burned it to a better quality DVD and tested it on my 2nd computer with no problems.  My error appears to be a coincidence, caused by an extremely low-quality CDr.

I've only ever run it on Intel platforms, and I've never had this occur - but that doesn't actually prove anything at all. It should run fine on an AMD processor, though. Note what diggum says above though - that is an informed comment...

What I gather is that the problem is a bug in the version of Installshield that Adobe used in the distribution of Audition 2.0.

... but given that they seem to have been aware of it, the bug either affects all versions, or there's some other reason to use this particular one.

I really doubt it affects all versions - virtually everyone's used an installshield installer before, and they have only very rarely introduced errors, at least for me.

I don't know the reasons why they would use the "bugged" version they did, but they must have a good reason to.

Chris, that is the same error message I received. I tried running it from the CD, and direct from my CD drive; same problem. I am also on an Intel system.

I also tried to download the tryout version last night. It also comes up as a bad file.

It's probably worth noting that when I upgraded to V1.5 I went the download root and it worked flawlessly.

Just for kicks, I went to the Isotope site last night and downloaded Spectron. No problems.

I am going to borrow a laptop today to see if I can download the tryout version.

I should have the replacement CDs in a couple of days.

My experience of Installshield is that they have a history of writing code that is very sensitive to differing system setups - that's a bit off for an installation program, really.

There was a period when Installshield installations had a tendency to hang for about 15 minutes when run on dual-processor systems with 1GB or more of memory; you just had to be very patient, or get called away before you killed it to try something else!

They have never been the best installation system, merely the most used.

It's been suggested that downloading with Firefox causes problems - whether true or not I cannot say.

How?  What you download initially is the Adobe download manager, and the product download is done by that, regardless of your browser.

And that wouldn't apply to my installation problem I had, as I did not purchase the downloadable version, but rather the box version.

I was told by Adobe CS that Firefox does create more problems due to its more advanced firewall filters.

I can't extract any sense from that assertion, as Firefox is not a firewall, nor does it do anything with with any other firewall to my knowledge.

For some reason when I first tried downloading the program while in the Firefox browser, I got a short 5 minute download, 65 mb or something like that. I heard about the Firefox problem at the Adobe website, and tried downloading a second time with the IE browser, and got the full 4 hundred and something file...which worked. It took about 45 minutes on my really fast connection, but it does work.
