Sounds like I'm about to land an audio-book job.  I'm not doing the reading.  I'm wondering about tricks/techniques that would help the voice talent maintain a consistant sound / pace / mood throughout the project.  I'm thinking that if we record 1 chapter, we could use that as a template for the rest of the project and start each subsequent chapter reading with a few minutes of listening to Chapter 1.

Any better ideas?

And take really comprehensive notes about the technical setup - of course!  Esp relationship of speaker to mic.  I wonder what techniques are used to enforce that?

 Hmmm - I do have a headset mic - I should see how that sounds (andrea).  I don't expect much when comparing it to a large condenser mic ... but it might be worth a shot.  I bought it when I was experimenting with voice commands in CAD software.
