I'm interested in buying the aardvark aark 20/20 and want to record about 4 tracks at the same time (I know that I dont need the aark 20/20 for that, but I can buy it cheap secondhand)
What kinda computer do I need for that? My PC has 500mhz / 128MB, is that enough?

Sure that's enough computer! I personally would get more RAM (512mb to be exact. There are of course other variables that will have an impact on your systems speed. Hard Drive speed/size, optimization, etc. Again personally, I would start with increasing the RAM.

I think it's a valid test to record multiple tracks using the soundcard that you have, but with the tracks being identical if the soundcard doesn't have more than one pair of inputs. So you would be creating multiple simultaneous wave files (or not if the machine can't keep up!). If that works ok on the machine you have, I don't see why it should be different with multiple inputs on another card.
If I'm wrong I suspect someone will tell me pretty soon!

I test-recorded 24 tracks (motu 24i) on a PIII 750 with no problems. The data drive was on a PCI ATA133 controller card.

Hi punkrobin. I used the Aark 20/20 on many occasions (albeit, a little over 2 years ago) and always liked the sound of their converters. Very clean, but true-sounding (not harshly bright or infinitely sterile!)
The only downside, really, is that the card is now quite old, and future driver revisions (especially considering the arsenal of new Aardvark soundcards) seem unlikely. Some might also argue that investing in a 20-bit card *now* is rather silly, considering the affordability of 24-bit systems with the same I/O configurations.
Just a thought...

This is also a site you might want to check out.
It is recommended by Steinberg for optimizing Windows XP for audio intensive applications.
