Today, while attempting to save a mixdown to mp3 - I got the error message "Error opening file for output". The file is never created, and I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. I get the same error when trying to mixdown as a WMA too. I do not get the error saving the mixdown to wave format though.

This happened to me once before, and I reinstalling - re-recording solved the problem. Opening the session file that created the problem to begin with, only brought the error back. I would prefer to not do that this tim, as I want to keep this recording!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

(Windows 2000, CEP2.0, plenty of free drive space available).

Hmm... is this a 16-bit or 32-bit mix file you're trying to save as an MP3?

Think I figured out my problem, and discovered some new found ignorance! Hehe...

Tracing back my session, decided to see what I did that changed. One of those was recording to a different directory. I'm kind of anal about things. I create a seperate directory for each session. I then create a track and mixdown directory under that. I tried saving everything under the single default directory that CEP attempted to use in the first place - same problem.

Second thing I had changed was the sampling rate. Instead of the default 48000, I moved it to 96000. I changed it back, and voila! Fixed my problem. Checked my directory thing again - all was well.

So, I'm assuming you can not mixdown to WMA or mp3 if the sample rate is at 96000?

I think that's probably true, although I haven't tried it. The reason for the 16/32 bir question was along similar lines, although I think that this is supposed to work with an on-the-fly conversion. But I wouldn't be absolutely sure without trying it...
